Back in November I went to visit my sister in Newcastle and we found the most amazing little cafe, selling unbelievably good milkshakes.
This magical place is called The Great British Cupcakery, and it is a must the next time you are in Newcastle.
We were walking along the river after having lunch at Pitcher and Piano and decided to go somewhere a bit different for a treat. If you walk along the river past the Millennium Bridge you’ll find a little bakery tucked away.
The Great British Cupcakery Bakehouse & Parlour. Before I even get started on the delicious treats behind the counter, I have to show you the decor. It is the cutest little cafe and I honestly wanted to take photos of every part of it.
It was super busy however, and I didn’t think it best to take photos of people whilst they were enjoying their afternoon snacks, so I just have the one to show you, but the walls are covered in quotes and mirrors and the whole place just seems happy.
Now onto the food. Every cake, cupcake, brownie, cookie and so on looked incredible, and they tasted it too. It’s a good job I don’t live in Newcastle or i’d be here every day!
We settled for a slice of Red Velvet and two milkshakes. My sister had the Vanilla shake topped with crème pâtissière and a profiterole, and I had the Cookie shake, which was served in a nutella covered mason jar and topped with whipped cream and delicious homemade cookies.
Absolute heaven. We couldn’t finish them no matter how hard we tried and we even took some of the left overs in takeaway cups, but we still couldn’t finish them! I’d definitely recommend them instead of a meal rather than after one!
If you’ve had amazing shakes like these i’d love to see them, i’m always on the lookout for a new place to eat, and I have the biggest sweet tooth, especially for anything that involves cookies, ice cream or milkshakes!
All my love, Amylou x
